All four gospel accounts narrate the story of a woman with an alabaster jar anointing Yeshua, Jesus. Do they describe the same scene? Is it the same woman? And is it Mary Magdalene?
"And last not least: Is Mary of Bethany, sister of Martha and Lazarus, the same woman as Mary Magdalene?"
As a Roman Catholic I have heard a priest express his belief that the woman is one and the same, Magdalene. I have also heard it speculated that the seven devils which were exorcised from her might have been due to her being involved in some kind of ; to use a modern term, new age mysticism??
You are absolutely right, I do think this is the general Roman Catholic view.
Interesting thought, "new age mysticism".
At the time there were a lot of mystery religions and the famous mystic Edgar Cayce said that Jesus Christ, Yeshua, was their "crowning glory" or something the like because He fulfilled, what these religions had been rehearsing.
This is Margaret Starbird's point as well about Yeshua and Mary Magdalene.
I also need to add; great image for this post of the Magdalene.

Thank you and by that I meant New Age in their context. I also wondered if that what might have been speculated upon was, in fact, the Kabbalah.
